The Aeroqual SM50 range of ozone sensor boards is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) solution for integration into commercial applications where ozone measurement is required.
They provide state-of the art ozone measurement in a flexible, cost-effective package.
SM50 ozone sensor boards use Aeroqual GSS technology to provide reliable and sensitive measurement, making them suitable for applications including low-level ambient gas measurements, industrial process control and leak detection.

SM50 sensor boards are available in three models with the following measurement ranges:
- Ozone 0-0.15ppm (SM50 UZ)
- Ozone 0-0.5ppm (SM50 LZ)
- Ozone 0-10ppm (SM50 GZ)
Specifications, including accuracy, resolution and response of the sensors, are in the sensor specification sheet.
Each SM50 sensor board is calibrated to give a linear output with gas concentration.

Standard inputs and outputs
SM50 sensor boards contains a number of inputs and outputs as standard. These include:
- A 4-way DIP switch input for setting the relay set point
- LEDs for visual indication of sensor status and relay operation
- A 0-5V analog output which is proportional to the measured concentration
- A single pole double throw (SPDT) relay output for controlling external equipment
- A RS485 digital output to query the sensor
- A RS232 digital output to query the sensor
If the sensor is unplugged, it’s very important to plug it back in with the correct orientation. Incorrect orientation results in damage to the sensor and/or sensor board.
Status LED
The SM50 is designed to run constantly and when it does so, the status LED on the sensor board glows green.
At start up, the status LED flashes green 2-6 times at an interval of 0.5 seconds. It then warms up for up to 10 minutes before full operation. During warm-up, the status LED flashes at an interval of 2 seconds.
On first time use, or after a period of non-use, the SM50 should be run for several hours to burn off contaminants on the sensor.
If the sensor fails, the status LED flashes quickly at an interval of 0.3 seconds.
Relay LED
When the relay is energized, the relay LED on the sensor board glows red.
Power
The SM50 sensor board runs off a DC input voltage in the range 11 - 32 VDC.
Connect power to the V+ and GND screw terminal connectors or to the VIN and GND pins on the micromatch connectors.
Power consumption varies depending on the SM50 sensor in the range 1-3 W.
Factors to consider
- The SM50 is intended for OEM integrators
- Sensor board size: 60mm x 75mm
- Environmental operating temperature range: 0°C to 50°C (-20°C to 50°C if enclosed).
- Operating humidity range: 5% to 95% RH (non-condensating)
- The SM50 only measures ozone
- The SM50 has no data storage
- The SM50 has no display
- The SM50 can’t be re-calibrated
- The SM50 is a sensor board and doesn’t come with an enclosure
- The SM50 doesn’t come with its own programming. This needs to be developed by the integrator.
- Aeroqual doesn’t provide programming, coding or other protocols other than what’s offered.
