v0.3

Minor Versionm

by Kyle Alberti

Introduction

The PMX should be regularly cleaned to prevent dust accumulation in the event a potentially flammable dust (e.g. coal dust) is measured at high levels. The frequency of cleaning will vary depending on the levels being measured.

This procedure should be carried out in a fume hood or location with adequate ventilation (e.g. outdoors) to prevent inhaling respirable dust.

    • Remove the PMX sensor head from the Ranger base

    • Remove the PM inlet from the PMX sensor head by pulling the inlet out of the sensor head.

    • Attach a piece of 1/8in ID tubing to the barb inside the PMX sensor head.

    • Blow low pressure compressed air through the PMX sensor head to remove any accumulated dust. Flow for ~10 seconds should be sufficient.

    • Turn off the compressed air and remove the compressed air tubing from the PMX inlet barb.

    • Reinstall the PMX inlet by pressing the inlet down onto the barb.

    • Reconnect the PMX sensor head to the Ranger base and confirm the sensor is operating correctly.
